Symmetry 1. (mathematics) an attribute of a shape or relation; exact reflection of form on opposite sides of a dividing line or plane.

2. Balance among the parts of something.

Symmetry can attract attention and draw a viewer into comparing contrasting points on either side of an imaginary line or plane of symmetry.

Symmetry may feature as the dominant design feature of an image, or a symmetrical object (eg: a building) can be an interesting subject for a photo.
