Shadows can translate objects into simple and distinctive shapes and the relationship between an object and its shadow can introduce compelling and contrasting elements into an image.

The surface onto which a shadow is cast may present distorted and distinctive shapes for photography.

This month, DIG members accepted the challenge to make "shadows" the subject of their photos.
